Alright, so here's our problem..... I have the hardest time getting Kaitlyn to let ME brush her teeth SHE wants to be the one to do it (which means she just wants to suck the toothpaste off the toothbrush and then swirl it around her mouth a few times) She used to just love to brush her teeth and had no problem letting me do it. Then we started to make noises like "Eeeeeeee" and "Aaaaaaahhh" to entertain her while keeping her mouth open. Then once that stopped working I let her brush my teeth while I brushed her teeth. Well that worked for about a week and now I have resorted to pinning her down to do it because I don't have any other ideas. I don't want teeth brushing to be so tramatic and a bad experience for her, so please share and help me before my neighbors and people walking by my apartment begin to think I'm an abusive mother.....Thanks!

lyd, dont stress so much... its ok if you never brush her teeth again!
but seriously, we sing all the toothbrush songs (like i'm brushing my teeth in back gotta get rid of all that plaque... )
or get a princess toothbrush and a light up toothbrush... let her choose which one she wants to hold and do, and you get the other one... that way she can do it (while you do it at the same time).
but ever since i told my kids that there are bugs on their teeth and we have to get them out, they are pretty cooperative... scare tactics work pretty well for me and my kids!
"Here's my friend brushy brushy I Brush My teeth Morning and Night. Please Brush with me every day... Morning, Noon and Night." that's the song we sing. My kids are always more excited to brush when they LOVE their tooth brush and if i get a barbie toothpaste etc... Also.. if they get a sticker on a chart or something that helps. I do the same as Emo.. we have to get the bugs off our teeth every day.
Dawn that is so funny you posted that, I seriously sing the same song from that stinkin tooth brush at your house. But you forgot one line. I'm your friends brushy brushy...I keep your teeth shiny and bright. Please brush with me everyday morning noon and night. Lyd this department is Dave's. He has pretty much shown them dentures and people with no teeth letting them know what happens if you don't brush well. We talk about tooth bugs too. Our rule is WE brush first then they brush after. Hope this helps :) Good luck.
I think you should sing the Toothbug song. I do not want to brus my teeth . . . By the way I love your blog! I am glad we started our blog at the same time! Smile big! Stacy
Good luck with that toothbrushing thing! Maybe she'll be a dentist when she grows up. Matt just used to run his toothbrush under the water and show his mom and now he's going to dental school! How did you get that scrapbooky thing? Call me!
fricken a lyd. update.
